David A. Freedman

David Freedman joined the firm in 2005 as a partner, after having practiced as head of litigation for the state-wide firm of Broad & Cassel in Miami. Mr. Freedman, a Miami native, has 37 years of extensive experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts, handling complex commercial litigation, including class and multi-district litigation, property rights, business torts, land use regulation, anti-trust, ADA, eminent domain, banking, Uniform Commercial Code, and securities regulation.

Mr. Freedman represented the plaintiff in the landmark case of Gould v. City of Coral Gables, which spanned six years in state and federal trial and appellate courts, resulting in the largest reported plaintiff’s judgment against a governmental entity for misuse of local zoning power. He represented the only successful defendant in a massive suit instituted by the Venezuelan government against financier Juan Vicente Perez Sandoval, charged with looting a Venezuelan bank in connection with the sale of an oil drilling operation in Lake Maracaibo. Mr. Freedman also was plaintiff’s counsel in the successful prosecution of a nationwide class action representing physicians as investors in a cattle herd tax shelter, was on the defense team in the multidistrict litigation of SEC v. Glenn W. Turner Enterprises, and has litigated a wide variety of other matters that cut cross the spectrum of complex commercial litigation.
