The residential community of Allapattah, as well as the people who work here, reflect the multi-ethnic and multi-lingual diversity of the area. It is a working class neighborhood. Housing, including high-rises, condominiums, and single family homes are generally moderately priced. There is also a significant amount of housing designed for the elderly. Santa Clara, Comstock, Melrose, Curtis Park, Civic Center and Jackson are Allapattah's sub-neighborhoods. Major commercial corridors also serve as sub districts including: NW 7th Avenue, NW 27th Avenue, NW 36th Street, and NW 20th Street.
