• When do I need a sidewalk construction/repair permit?

  You need this permit anytime you’re doing sidewalk construction/repair in the right-of-way.

• When do I need to repair my sidewalk?

  You need to repair your sidewalk anytime when it is in dangerous conditions or when the owner/occupant is notified by Public Works.

• How long does it take to issue a permit?

  The permit will be issued within three business days of the application receipt if there are no comments to the engineering plans.

• Is there a permit fee for this permit?

  The sidewalk repair fee is $58.00 and $1.15 per additional lineal foot. Sidewalk construction fee is $115.00 for up to 50 LF and $2.30 per additional lineal foot.

• What are the standards for sidewalk construction and where can I find them?

  The details for sidewalk construction are in the City of Miami Engineering Standards 35-85-22 and you can find them on the city’s website.

• Is this permit conditional to another permit?

  Yes, you also need a Right-of-Way Closure Permit.

• Do I need signed and sealed plans?

  The plans have to be signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer registered in the State of Florida.
