The Zoning Section of the Planning & Zoning Department reviews applications under Chapter 419 and Chapter 429 of the Florida Statutes which requires Community Residential Homes applicants to meet certain size and location criteria.
There are different types of community group
homes regulated by different state agencies such as the Agency for
Persons with Disabilities, Agency for Health Care Administration,
Department of Elderly Affairs, and Department of Children and
Families among many others.
Below are the different requirements needed to submit an application.
Facilities with 1 - 6 beds:
Facilities with 7 - 14 beds:
Letter / Statement from licensing entity (State) indicating the licensing status of the proposed community residential home. Such letter / statement shall specify how the proposed facility meets licensing criteria for the safe care and supervision of the clients in the facility.
Most recently published data from all licensing entities
identifying all Community Residential Homes within City of Miami
boundaries.
Survey with surveyor’s certification confirming compliance with distance requirements as stated above. Survey shall be signed and sealed by a licensed surveyor and must show distance (1,200’ Radius) as described above; 500 feet from T3-R or T3-L (Single Family Zoning).
